University of Washington Library Call for Music

Recently the UW received a grant to buy works from artists active in the Puget Sound region today. Music from all styles and genres is being sought in order to document the plethora of voices present the diverse musical community of the area. Everything from art rock to hip hop, folk revival to free jazz, classical to new age, shockabilly to Balkan folk is fair game.

A class was created for students to participate in the search and to give students from a variety of backgrounds the opportunity to share the exciting experience of finding new music. I am one of those students.

So, please, if you live or work near the Puget Sound, from Bellingham all the way down to Centralia, send us directions on how to purchase or otherwise acquire your music to add to the UW libraries' collection. We would love to have you.
